What is "A Thousand-Year Journey"?

"A Journey of a Thousand Years" is a travel design that proposes journeys centered on Kyushu, allowing you to experience the history, culture, and lives of the people that have been accumulated in that region over time.

Walking through the city, I focus on the places and cultures that have been passed down through generations, and the stories that remain there.

Rather than simply visiting a destination, learning about the local context allows you to enjoy the scenery you see on your trip more deeply.

This time, ONE FUKUOKA HOTEL has prepared two walking tours that allow you to enjoy Fukuoka's history and culture from different perspectives, in conjunction with the "Journey of a Thousand Years" program.

TWO WALKING TOURS

Hakata Old Town Tour

Hakata has long flourished as a gateway for exchange with Asia.

As you walk through historic temples, shrines, and townscapes, you'll trace the remnants of history that remain in the town and the stories that have been passed down through generations in this land.

This approximately three-hour walking tour explores the history that remains within the current cityscape, allowing you to experience the culture of Hakata that continues to this day.

Fukuoka Architectural Tour

We will explore the city of Fukuoka from the perspective of "architecture."

This approximately three-hour tour takes you not only to appreciate the building's design, but also to consider the background and era in which it was created, and its relationship to the surrounding city.

Even buildings and landscapes that we usually pass by without a second thought can reveal a new side of Fukuoka when we learn about their background.

STAY & EXPERIENCE

The tour offers two sessions that you can enjoy before or after your stay at ONE FUKUOKA HOTEL.

14:00 START｜CHECK-IN DAY

We left our luggage at the hotel before checking in and then went out into the city with a cultural guide.

The tour ended around 17:00.

After walking around the city and getting to know Fukuoka, I checked into the ONE FUKUOKA HOTEL.

Enjoy a relaxing stay while gazing at the city you walked through that day from your hotel room.

10:00 START｜CHECK-OUT DAY

After checking out, we left our luggage at the hotel and headed out for the tour.

The tour ended around 13:00.

I took a walk around the city to get a feel for its history and culture before heading off on my next journey.
